During World War II, the British Commonwealth played a vital role in supporting the Allied war effort. This included providing troops, materials, and financial support to Britain, with contributions from both the self-governing Dominions (like Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa) and the colonial territories. Over 6 million men and women from the Commonwealth served alongside British forces.
